Yes, that was me this morning.
I have to admit, that before having children, I used to avoid mini-vans like the plague. Not that I even own one now…but I mean driving on the road I would avoid them. I used to comment “Ugh, mini-van moms are the WORST drivers.” I get it now. Really. No, REALLY, I get IT.
Little Magoo had to head to the doctor’s this morning and although it was interesting wrangling a toddler and a baby carrier without a stroller to contain them – it was the driving home part that was harder.
Here’s a little back story: Little Magoo has been getting up at the butt-crack of 5:00am every morning. Therefore, he needs a morning nap.
So we got finished at the doctors and needed to head to the store. Half way down the highway I look in my rearview mirror and see the look. Moms, you know the look. The “I’m totally zoning out and my eyes are getting very heavy” look. Yup, forget the store, because this one needed to nap…and he’s the kind of kid who thinks a 10 minute nap in the car is good and wakes up as soon as the car shuts off.
I quickly started playing with his feet to keep him awake as I drove with one hand, all while keeping my eyes on the road AND on him AND high-tailing it as quick as I could to get home. I was a driving maniac.
To all the crazy mini-van driving moms who I dissed earlier in my life:
